What to bring and what to expect at our events

What's the event and the music like?

Our standard event features an eclectic and ever-changing mix of classical, jazz, and folk music styles with Will Taylor on fiddle, plus history, geology, info on flora and fauna of the specific area.

Here's a look>>>

We also hold this experience with different themes and guest artists from the Austin music scene and beyond.

Some events have shorter walks and longer concerts at the end.

Just ask me if you're curious.

See our calendar for more details.
1) Please put this number in your phone now:
Will Taylor: 512-589-8749 (Strings in the Woods)

2) Please allow for plenty of time to get to the location.
If you are going to be more than 10 mins late, you might miss the departure.
My introduction usually goes about 10 to 15 minutes.
We respect the time of all who attend.

3) Unless you're told to do so in the confirmation email from your event, camp chairs are not needed.
We play music in different spots on the guided hike, and on some events we'll pause at one spot to play for about 30 mins.

4) Closed toed shoes highly recommended, and a trip to the bathroom before you arrive at the event is too.
Sometimes there are no restrooms available at the wild locations we visit.
       Feel free to ask me.

5) IMPORTANT: Bring water, snacks, or a small picnic.
Bug repellent, sunscreen, a hat, and a blanket to sit on is great too.

5a) This event is for folks in good to excellent health.
If you have any health concerns that would make the walk difficult or dangerous in any way, please be in touch with me prior to the event to discuss if this is the right event for you.

6) Children are welcome, but keep in mind the following:
This is a guided hike with meditation and music, not a focused kids activity.
For future reference, we love families and children, and do a family oriented Strings in the Woods experience.
Inquire with Will if you're interested in booking one at 512-589-8749
See my work with kids here>>>

7) On our standard event, you will be led by a violinist playing music while we walk, pausing in various spots to talk about history, geography, and plant life.

At one point we will do a short 10 mins meditation that is completely optional and no experience necessary.

If you've never meditated, you'll be guided and this is a great way to give it a try for the first time.

No religion involved, unless you worship nature as your religion.

If you don't want to participate, you're welcome to explore around that spot, or just sit and enjoy the sights and sounds.

Here's a great intro to meditation...

8) Going on this hike means that you take responsibility for yourself, and will hold Strings In The Woods harmless if anything happens.

9) Our events last 1.5 - 2 hours long.

During the summertime, the hikes are shorter, and the music portion of the event will usually be at sunset lingering into the dark.
We also do events in the morning during the summertime, if you're looking for a cooler option.

10) In the event of inclement weather, all tickets are transferable to other Strings in the Woods events.
There are no refunds unless you do not live in the Austin area.
